So glad I bought this dryer

Submitted by Jaykeywest - 7/2/2019

Bought this dryer about six months ago, but did not install due to other reviews which lead me to believe that it did not get very hot and took an exceptionally long time to dry. This was so untrue. As a self confessed energy conserving geek, this dryer is awesome. It heats to what seems just as hot as the prior conventional dryer and the idea that I'm using 50-60% less energy is truly unbelievable. Drying time seems to me to be exactly the same as my conventional dryer. Filters are easy to clean. There are plenty of cycles for me. The only negative I can see so far is the lack of a light in the dryer cavity. Otherwise, I am more than satisfied and very happy that I switched to this heat pump dryer. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Multiple Repairs

Submitted by ArcSyn - 6/1/2019

I got this about a year and a half ago. Within 6 months of use it gave us an error and wouldn't run anymore. Whirlpool sent out a tech and the all of the electronics were fried. Turned out there was an issue with the dryer from the start, and the heat pump never actually ran. Power circuitry must have shorted and blew everything. Took a week or so, but got the parts and fixed the dryer. A year later and got an error that the water pump wasn't working. Now I'm out of warranty, so I figured I would do it myself. Getting to the water pump was ridiculous! They did not design this to be repaired easily or quickly. It should be easy to get to stuff like this! Turns out build up of lint on the heat pump fins and collected in the pump tank would block it up so it couldn't push the water out. This thing needs easier access or a bigger pump that won't get blocked up as easily. Also, why did they use electric heating coils instead of the hot side of the heat pump to heat the air? Exhausts a lot of hot air that could have been recycled for more efficiency. All said, still grateful it exists so I could put it in my laundry room without a vent.

Great dryer. Love it!

Submitted by GRPS - 1/10/2019

I did a lot of research on ventless dryers before I purchased one. I love this machine. The size of the drum is so much bigger than I imagined and it dries perfectly. I read a lot of negative reviews about the ventless dryers, but so far, with the machine, none of them are true.

Needed ventless dryer

Submitted by Mommy Salami - 7/26/2018

Dryer works great. Took some time to get used to the new operating technology. The filter door covering the HybridCare Filter does not latch properly. No matter what I do it sticks out. This is disappointing, afraid it will be damaged at some point. Cleaning the cooling fan screen is difficult as the fan is located on the back lower right side of the dryer. Dryer must be pulled away from wall to vacuum monthly. Other than those things, I feel that the dryer performs well.

Great Full Size Ventless Dryer

Submitted by Linda403 - 4/4/2018

I was hesitant about purchasing this dryer at first. After some research I decided it was my best option. My old dryer was vented into a bucket. There was no easy fix to vent outdoors. I hated seeing condensation on my walls as it dripped down. This dryer is awesome. No more condensation! It does run a bit longer, but well worth that small inconvenience. The clothes aren't " cooked" like hot air dryers. This heat pump dryer is a gentle drying machine. Clothes have less shrinkage and heat damage with this dryer.

Reducing carbon footprint with better technology

Submitted by mem_somerville - 2/28/2018

My 20+ year old dryer finally gave up the ghost. I'm not one to run out and buy new stuff (I repaired the last one a few times). But I know now that the moisture-sensor tech is going to help me save energy. And the heat-pump technology that I'm now using in my house is super-efficient. So it was really time to upgrade. Since I have solar panels, I am trying to move more stuff to energy efficient electrical equipment as well. I have been pleased with the functionality and the electric bill so far. The clothes seem more gently treated, and the power use is down. I think this will be the right choice for me.

Worst machine. Don't buy this. Broke after 4 uses

Submitted by James400 - 1/22/2018

We got this new Washer and Dryer December 2018. After 4 washes the washer broke down. Technician came to check it out. Ordered broken parts. I was told the machine would be fixed in a week. It's been 21 days, the parts have not been received and machine remains broken. Called customer support 3 times. They have sub contracted repairs to another company. They still don't know how long it would take to locate the parts. They would not even replace the unit since 1 year warranty would cover the parts repair.

Heat Pump Dryer

Submitted by HPDryer - 12/17/2017

Long Drying times as compared to a conventional Gas or Electric Dryer. Also, since most people are going going to stack this dryer or slide it under a counter, the location of the fan screen in the rear of the unit need to be re-routed to the FRONT of the unit. How can Whirlpool expect anyone to slide out a stacking unit from a closet on a monthly basis to clean this scree. Better product design is needed.

Secondary Filter - Hybrid Care Filter Issue

Submitted by ssk10504 - 11/20/2017

How does one clean the lint in the coils? The mesh screen behind the Hybrid Care Filter cannot be removed to clean the coils. We've used European condensing dryers in the past where the coils can be slid out for cleaning but the coils on this dryer is fixed in place and cannot be cleaned.

Works well

Submitted by 12345678 - 11/8/2017

We've been using this dryer for over a month and it does a good job. Since it's ventless the room will heat up somewhat but that's still better than sending your conditioned air out the dryer vent line as with a conventional model. My only complaint, which has been mentioned in numerous reviews, is the access door to the filter will not close. It's cheap plastic and right out of the box it would not stay closed. Not a big deal but you hope the internals are better made. Small stuff like this can lead to an overall bad impression.

love ventless dryer

Submitted by InitiallyBAM - 8/12/2017

I have had this dryer for about 3 months and was concerned about other reviewers saying dryer broke soon after purchase. I like the dryer very much because it is ventless. My laundry room is up stairs and has no outside wall for a dryer vent, builders cut a hole in the floor of the laundry to just let the dryer vent tube hang down into the garage for the 10 to 12 feet venting lint and moisture into the garage, what a mess. Also most dryers do not have much on the back to hook and secure that vent, so it was always half on and half off spewing lint in the laundry and house as well as in the garage, so it looks like heavy dust everywhere. So the first thing with this dryer I noticed, was how clean and dust free the laundry room was and still is after 3 months. It takes a little longer but I never stay right there waiting for a load to get done. Also, I live in the humid south, so summer time if I left the dried load in the dryer overnight with the old dryers that the vent tube running down into the garage, the clothes were damp and wet from the humidity coming up the vent tube into the dryer. With this new whirlpool eventless dryer, if I can't get to the dried load until the next day and the clothes stay in the dryer overnight, there is no problem, Wonderful, the clothes are dry waiting for whenever I get to them. I love this dryer. I clean both filters every time. It has a signal to alert when the bottom filter needs cleaning, book says in about 4 or 5 loads but I do it every time, thought maybe less strain on the dryer. Inside filter just like alot of machines where the door opens and drum is, easy to open the filter and wipe lint out, but do be careful putting filter back in, it only goes one way and if you put it in the wrong way, it will break a flap. Some machines the filter could go in either way. The outside filter is not hard either. I pull it out ,I have a small brush, like a very small dust pan broom, and brush it off both sides , then middle.

needs more heat

6/22/2017

I wish I could rant and rave about this dryer. Unfortunately, it does not stand out as an alternative to vented gas dryers. I was forced to purchase a ventless, electric dryer due to living circumstances. This machine fit the build. It's probably better than a condensation dryer, but I couldn't compare, since I have never owned one. Compared to vented gas dryer, it's night and day. Gas dryers will annihilate this dryer in a heat fight. Everything else about features of dryer seem fine. Haven't used any of them. Just wanted my clothes dry.

Stay away from this dryer

5/15/2017

I was excited about this ventless energy efficient dryer. Now I am only disappointed and extremely frustrated by how poorly the machine works and the lack of satisfactory redress by Whirlpool Customer Service. I get frequent F9 and E1 error messages during a single load of drying which require vacuuming the secondary filter each time. Lint also accumulates beyond the secondary filter inside the machine. Being inaccessible to me, this requires a service call for cleaning. The technician needs to take the machine almost completely apart, including removing the drum to access the area for cleaning.

5/15/2017

Have had this dryer for 2 months now and am happy with it. Needed a ventless model and wanted a full size dryer so this fit those needs. It dries well and I have not had any problems thus far. On the negative side, I will note that it is somewhat noisy. Also the filters, particularly the hybrid care filter are flimsy and require careful handling.

Great Dryer

5/11/2017

This is a great dryer for our basement. We are very happy with it. It's quiet and efficient. My only complaint is that the hybrid filter is a flimsy, cheap piece of foam. It is not going to last long and is a pain to clean. I would like to buy a couple spares but I cannot find the part.

My first month experience

4/20/2017

Overall, I am satisfied with the functionality and operation of the the Ventless Heat Pump Dryer but definitely see room for enhancements and improvements. Possibly, this is a common theme among all ventless dryers but there is a significant amount of dampness and humidity omitted from the dryer during normal operation. So much so that I ended up purchasing a portable air conditioner / dehumidifier to prevent mold from all the dampness. This is particularly true in our NW climate where we have a lot of rain and dampness in the winter. The other item where I would suggest changes is to have a different mechanism for lint capture. The existing system is cumbersome to clean and creates somewhat of a mess trying to get all of the trapped lint out of both filters. Other than these two issues, I am pleased with the quiet operation as well as drying ability of this make and model.

It's Fine When It Actually Works

Submitted by Sedona Art - 3/22/2017

We bought it and had it installed in our new home in January. We began using it in February, and found almost immediately that it would halt and display the error message F1 E9. This occurs almost every time that we use it. Multiple attempts, with a power down, are then required to finally get it working. Our loads range from small to moderate and the majority are Low Heat mode. We now clean both lint filters prior to each run, but that makes no difference. We still have to jockey with almost every dryer load. When it works, it works as expected. Being a Heat Pump Dryer, it takes a bit longer to achieve the desired level of dryness, but that's not a real problem. We just need to have the Dryer work reliably.

Exceeded expectations

2/20/2017

So far after two weeks this dryer has exceeded our expectations. We expected longer drying times and damp clothes. It's not happening. It's drying faster that our conventional dryer. Because our dryer vent runs up a wall and between ceiling and floor, this dry is a superb alternative to internal venting with wet floors and lent everywhere. Now our laundry room is dry and clean. My wife loves it.

Working Well

2/13/2017

Due to the nature of my apartment, I couldn't use a non-Ventless dryer without heavy and costly renovations. This is my first ventless model and it's working like a charm. Though it takes twice the time as a normal vented dryer, that is a mild annoyance and my clothes are still dry and less damaged due to the lower temperature used to dry. It also is very big compared to other ventless models, so I can dry larger comforters and blankets.Definitely a worthwhile purchase if you need a ventless model.

Full Size Ventless Dryer

1/11/2017

It works well for us in our basement laundry room. It eliminates the need for venting through the ceiling. It drys well. My only issue with it is the hybrid filter which is flimsy and looks like it will break easily. Also the actually filter is a thin piece of foam that resists cleaning. I hope it lasts.

Nice machine, a little expensive

1/4/2017

Bought unit along with matching washer so I could stack them in my condo closet, fit perfect! I am not able to vent a dryer to the outdoors. So I needed a vent less dryer. Very happy with my choice. I believe in the long run the performance will out way the cost.

Very Impressive

Submitted by JCteach - 11/21/2016

We have had this dryer in our new home for three weeks now. I've been very impressed with it's sensors and ability to stop the drying when the item was dry though the timer indicated otherwise. It has taken some trial and error to learn how to program for the best results. However, I am very pleased with the appliance. I only refrain from a 5 star because I am waiting to see how it will impact our energy bill in the coming month.

I Love this Dryer!

Submitted by LeParc SD - 11/15/2016

I bought this and did have to wait a few weeks, due to back order but worth it. I live in an older condo building that does not have vents for laundry and we had this weird bucket that blew the hot moist air into it... Not a great option. The new dryer is modern, easy and puts out no extra heat in the room. I used to have an older condensation dryer and it worked, but you had to open a window because it got so hot and humid. Such a great invention and I'm very happy with my purchase.

useless piece of metal

Submitted by 2old4thismess - 11/7/2016

On 9/28/16 I received delivery of my new Whirlpool dryer after a 28 day wait. Used it one time and it BROKE. The whirlpool repairman came out and had to order parts. The float and lint trap springs were broken. Waited another 15 days for parts and repairman to return. Fixed it-LOL. Used it a few more times then it broke again. All in all the repairman was here 3 times. The machine again BROKE with the same exact codes as the first go around-the float pump etc. Waiting now on repairman for 2nd opinion in order to have the useless piece of metal in my house replaced. I paid over a $1000.00 for this dryer, I would never in my wildest dreams expected this to happen. After going back and reading the reviews on the stores web site-there were other people with the same exact problem as me. Broken dryers that are brand new. That's Crazy right!

I'm in love with my HybridCare dryer

11/5/2016

I can't believe how easy it was to adjust to this new dryer. It is spacious and so very efficient. Easy to keep the filters clean and I like the ability to choose the cycle I need. It has made my life so much easier.
