Not the best

Submitted by Grahampham - 6/1/2017

Fridge looks nice and seems roomy. However, the freezer is pretty small - or at least not the greatest layout. Food stays cold - that's a positive! Ice maker stopped making ice and it leaked onto my cabinet causing damage.

Not a good product

Submitted by Carolyn - 4/28/2017

I bought my fridge in 2013 thinking I was getting a top-of-the-line, quality product. From day one, we had some big issues. On the small side, the handles came scratched. Kitchenaid kindly sent replacement, but due to poor packaging, it took 4 shipments to get one that even looked new. Then on to the mechanics. The inner workings for the fridge and freezer have been repaired at least 5 times. From the ice maker to the condenser, its all been an issue. And don't even get me started on the ever-increasing cost of the water filters. Now, at the 4 year mark, the stainless steel is getting tiny little rust spots, the ice maker (which we refer to as the "home invasion ice maker" because it's so loud) occasionally just spits a random ice cube onto the floor from the giant block of ice it has created in the bin, the plastic on the upper fridge door hinge is breaking when the door opens completely, the drawer fronts have broken off too many times to count, and it is SUPER LOUD when it kicks on. I bought a complete appliance package and only the microwave that I don't really use is holding up. I just wanted a fridge that worked and would last awhile, so I shelled some extra money. Where has the quality gone Kitchenaid?

Drawer fronts fall off

Submitted by Rhody - 4/28/2017

All three drawer fronts fell off. I have all kinds of tape failing to hold them together. I am past the warranty point and replacing them is crazy expensive. I have always recommended and bought Kitchen Aid appliances, so this was especially disappointing. Model # KSF26C4XYY01, Serial # HR13913298

Great Fridge - Flimsy Drawers

Submitted by Jeff - 1/16/2017

The fridge and its features are perfect for our needs. Unfortunately after 2 years of owning it 3 of the five drawers have completely fallen apart. Since this happened outside of the warranty window, customer support would not replace them. The drawers are quite flimsy and after normal everyday use by my family of three the front of these three drawers just pulled right off. There is no way to re-attach them because the assembly is held together by very small plastic tabs that basically disintegrated. The drawers are about $80 a piece so we have had to make do with large unusable gaps in the fridge while we wait for the pricey replacements. Aside from the flimsy drawers though the unit is quite nice and meets all of our needs. However I can't recommend it to anyone knowing that they might have to shell out $250 dollars 2 years down the road.

Not reliable

Submitted by Indiana realtor - 1/14/2017

Purchased in July 2012. In July 2016 sealed system on the freezer side completely went out. In January 2017 comma sealed system on freezer and refrigerator side has now gone out. I thought I was buying top-of-the-line apparently not. KitchenAid is sending somebody out they only have one vendor in the Indianapolis and surrounding Marion County areas. We have to wait 10 days for someone to come look at our refrigerator, and then they will likely not have the parts to fix it when they come so they'll be an additional wait. Also the rims on my refrigerator door bins are peeling and look disgusting. I keep a clean refrigerator and they tell me this is merely cosmetic. I'm a realtor and I plan to tell all my clients and colleagues my experience with KitchenAid.

Disappointed with Quality

Submitted by CJS - 9/27/2016

So far we've had two drawers in the fridge and one in the freezer all fail in the same way. The small plastic tabs that attached to the front panels all cracked. For a premier brand I would expect a better design for something that is put under stress every day. I am also disappointed in flow of the water dispenser. It is painfully slow and the ice make is way ridiculously slow and loud.

Poor quality

Submitted by KG - 7/7/2016

Disappointed with many features of this refrigerator. Cheap, plastic DRAWERS- front facing breaks off when pulled out. This happened in the freezer and the refrigerator, I've had to glue them back together because the plastic tabs are completely broken off. WATER DISPENSER- water is room temperature, not cold. Rust is forming in tray beneath dispenser. ICE MAKER - is very loud. SHELVES- are not adjustable. Kitchen Aid has provided service when requested; however, I would not recommend this product.

Piece of Garbage

Submitted by gackdeux - 6/18/2016

I have had this model for a couple of years and I have had to replace water valves, switches, and make various other repairs. I strongly recommend NEVER buy a KitchenAid appliance. Currently, I am one of the myriad of customers who have a non-functioning ice dispenser. I have gone through all the troubleshooting and had two professionals look at it and they cannot fix it. I think KitchenAid should stick to small appliances and get out of the refrigerator business.

Poor quality

Submitted by Disappointed - 6/11/2016

I bought this fridge, spending good money because of the brand name and their 10yr warranty. My older fridge no name lasted 10yrs before it finally gave up on us and I did even have to repair It once. After 1yr the right side of the fridge would not close properly. I called KitchenAid and was advised because its a cosmetic issue it would not be covered and the cost $350 which include parts and 1yr warranty. My husband ended up ordering the $30 part and fixed it himself. Now 2yrs after that our fridge side starting freezing everything! Eggs, vegetables, 1 gallon jugs, was not making ice and the water dispenser was not working. I figure this has to be covered, wrong again. The service rep said "only major parts" compressor some tube thing, I'm thinking wow for such a supposedly top notch brand this fridge is worthless and kitchen warranty is nothing. He quoted me the same price as when I called 2yrs ago, $350 he even added wow sounds like you have numerous issues with this fridge. Its only 3yrs old and we should of went with a no name brand. All they wanted was for us to pay for their warranty again and he even said they will look for a service company by us but we may end up even having to pay for the diagnostic fee! We will no longer purchase kitchenAid products and I hope in the future they consider what their "warranty" actually does for you.

Three issues

Submitted by Cheryl - 2/15/2016

Size is great for our family of five. I enjoy all of the special display features. 1. Not happy with whatever the "stainless steel" surface is made of. There are now rusty marks on it from my magnets. Same magnets that I use on last fridge with no issues, 2. Ice maker is always giving my husband a difficult time, 3. I keep hearing a dripping sound when ice maker fills up. I was told not to worry about it but would not be surprised if we find the door is full of water one of these days.

Refrigeratgor Drawers

Submitted by Dan - 2/1/2016

We bought this 3 years ago. Last month the meat/cheese drawer front broke off. There are two small plastic tabs that are supposed to be strong enough to hold it on. One of the tabs broke off, and with only one tab left it was just a matter of time until the other tab broke, taking a corner of the drawer with it. $250 later we have a new drawer coming, except that it's on back order because so many of them have broken.

Door bins

Submitted by na - 9/21/2015

We received our new refrigerator on Aug 31, 2015 & took about a week to get used to its lay out & features. Our one gripe is the door bins. There is no where in the owner's manual stating that the standard bin can only be place in the lower half of the door & the gallon bins can only be placed in the upper half of the door. We do not like this arrangement as it does not give the user freedom to arrange the bins to his liking & feel it could be dangerous in a household with children. After talking with one of your customer service reps he agreed & would send us another standard bin.

Do Not Buy a KitchenAid Refrigerator

Submitted by JacksCove - 8/27/2015

I bought my KitchenAid KSF26C6XYY04 Architectural Series side-by-side refrigerator and installed it in my new house in August 2013. On July 3,2015 the freezer failed - temperature at 68 degrees while temperature on refrigerator side was 55degrees. KitchenAid sent out a repair company that diagnosed a "Seal System" failure (still under the 2-5 year warranty) but they were not certified to repair it. KitchenAid could not locate any certified service providers that would work on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I hired a local company that said it was a "Seal System" problem but they couldn't fix it. At KitchenAid's advice I called Sears Service who told me it may be a "Seal System" issue but also that the freezer door was warped and letting out the cold - and estimated $1,400 to replace the door. Replacing the door is not covered under KitchenAid warranty. I need to buy a new unit with no compensation from KitchenAid. I will never buy another KitchenAid or any of the other refrigerator brands made by Whirlpool e.g. Whirlpool, Maytag, etc. because Whirlpool/KitchenAid can't provide certified repair support in my area of Maryland and they do not stand behind a faulty product.

Never Again

Submitted by DR DTW - 7/15/2015

I actually have the counter depth model of this fridge. I've owned it for 18 months. At one year, the ice maker failed. When it was replaced, the technician also discovered that the reason my vegetable bins didn't close properly was because the foam insulation was installed improperly at the factory. That took another two trips to fix. Then, the ice maker failed again and fixing it included adding pads below the freezer door switches to be sure they were working correctly - again a factory defect. Then, the ice make auger motor failed and it had to be replaced. Last week the ices maker started to make water for new ice but never stopped. Now, I am waiting for them to replace the ice maker switches because they will not decare my machine a lemon. I expected more from KitchenAid.

KitchenAid Side by Side

Submitted by Fran the researcher - 7/6/2015

I bought this refrigerator to replace a 25 year old Whirlpool side by side which was a wonderful refrigerator and is still working. I thought 25 years was pushing it to not replace it soon. I researched for over two years trying to find a side by side refrigerator with all the features I was used to. I bought the KitchenAid since it is now part of the Whirlpool family and I was told it was of higher quality than the Whirlpool. I like the size of the refrigerator and especially the amount of room in the freezer since the ice maker is on the door. The many lights inside the refrigerator are a plus and makes it easy to find items. The downside is that the ice maker makes about 1/3 the amount of ice that my Whirlpool makes. And as the other reviews that I read pointed out, the ice maker dispenser is so noisy that I am unable to hear the television in the next room when using it I thought maybe, it was an exaggeration but no, it is true, really, really loud!! You also are unable to open the refrigerator door while using the ice or water dispenser. The refrigerator is attractive but the finish scratches very easily. I have the black finish. I am somewhat disappointed with this purchase because of the information I shared. It does have it's positives. Time will tell if this refrigerator lives up to the Kitchen Aid reputation.

Submitted by Tom - 6/18/2015

It is now exactly 3 years old and the ice maker stopped working. When it did work, it was very noisy while the water was filling, and when the ice cubes dropped into the bucket. The crisper drawer handles keep breaking, so I had to put a screw in it to keep it from coming a part. Water droplets keep staining the front of the door under the handle. Finger prints show easily and hard to get off. Water filter needs replacing $$ ever 6 months. The good features: interior LED lights, consistent temps, nice looking, lots of space.

Great refrigerator overall; a few features-not so much

Submitted by KathyC_FL - 3/30/2015

I had to replace a Samsung french-door refrigerator and KitchenAid was highly recommended by the repair guy who came out. This fridge is very well made and so far, is functioning very well. (Only had it a few weeks.) My 'complaints' may be minor to some, but here we go: I wish the shelf spacing was ADJUSTABLE!!!!! Why don't they have brackets and multiple spaces on the back panel to insert them like every other fridge I've ever had??? This fridge has fixed-spaced brackets only, so you're very limited to where you can put them. I already bought another small door bin, to hold the small jars that would otherwise take up space on the shelves, to make up for the limitation. The shelves are marked as "Spill Resistant", but that is really kind of misleading. There is a SMALL lip on the FRONT of the shelf that would keep drips contained, but if you spill something that goes to either side, or the back of the shelf, that stuff is going to DRIP all the way down. I don't know how they classify that as spill resistant. The deli and vegetable bins DO NOT extend fully out to the front so you can see everything in them - I have no idea why they couldn't design that better. Every fridge I've ever owned had drawers that pull out much further. For the $1800 I spent on this, these features are very noticeable.

Add on to previous review

Submitted by Sheener2 - 3/24/2015

See Sheener Fort Lauderdale previous. It been 6 months. Still have some condensation on freezer door, wipe it 2-3 times a day. Ice maker working until yesterday. Did I say 6 months (applicance company only warrants repairs for 3 months. OOPs.) So no I am not repairing this refrigerator again. It is going out to trash and I am hunting replacements.

fabulous fridge

Submitted by super mom - 3/20/2015

we have had this fridge for a couple of months now and we love it! a nice side benefit, is that it tells you how much water in ounces you are getting from the water dispenser. the only two downsides to this fridge is that the fingerprints are easily seen, and that you have to have the right side door closed if you are using the ice/water dispenser. other than that it is fabulous.

Problems with Freezer Door and rubber door gasket

Submitted by Cowboy Pete - 3/18/2015

The refrigerator looks great and has the features that we were looking for. However, the freezer door at times has condensation on the outside of the door and water beads down the door gasket and pools water at the bottom ref. door. The seller has ordered a new door, said it would take approximately 6-weeks to get. I hope that this will correct the problem but, have my doubts that it will. Kitchen Aid products should not have these type of problems. We are very disappointed.

Exceeding Expectations

Submitted by Biggie51 - 2/13/2015

Our original order was for the previous version of this refrigerator. We had to wait for line changes but it was worth it! This refrigerator is amazing! Improvements in lighting, filtration, cooling control, shelf arrangement and ice maker are just that. The only thing I am having to get accustomed to is the sound of the ice maker when it resets. It sounds like my printer.

Nice fridge, but water dispenser already leaking

Submitted by AnaM - 2/13/2015

I have only had this for 3 months and the water dispenser is already leaking. Overall it is a good fridge. I like the side by side. I had a freezer on the bottom for 12 years, nice it is a nice change.

Love it!

Submitted by Sanda - 2/9/2015

I bought this after returning an LG of similar price and features. This refrigerator is a much better appliance in design and features. The inside is designed to hold more with a better use of available space. I love it and am so glad I chose to return the other and replace it with this.

Great features even temperature control.

Submitted by KenMore - 1/28/2015

Purchased this model two months ago and other than having two service calls within the first month I'm quite pleased. Service was pleasant and timely. Even temperatures seem to be making food in both fridge and freezer last longer. While not as quiet as I had hoped, it's not too objectionable. Fit and finish could be a bit better but I would consider this purchase again if I had to. The overall design is better imo than other brands in the same price range, with the exception of the lack of cantilevered shelves. The cheap "molded into the liner" shelf brackets and their severely limited adjustability detract from the overall design of the unit.

Be Careful

Submitted by RRP22 - 1/25/2015

We waited 12weeks for this refrigerator and received a damaged dented one. You can't get water or ice while refrigerator door is open. Try this with multiple family members during dinner. The design of drawer fronts are terrible these are held on by two 1/4" plastic clips. We've replaced these three times already with average use for family of five. The touch screen doesn't sit flush with doors and will probably be the next thing to go with minimal one year warranty.
